The man accused of killing the mother and grandfather of his two young daughters in Coloma, Mich., was deemed unfit to stand trial.
Alex Perez was ordered to undergo treatment after the judge received a report from the Center for Forensic Psychiatry, our news partners ABC 57 reported. The case will be reviewed again in 90 days.
Perez is charged with two counts of first degree murder. He’s accused of killing 27-year-old Renee Mitchell and her 67-year-old father John Mitchell on Jan. 13 at their home on M-63 in Coloma. The Mitchells’ bodies were found Jan. 14 by a family member, who realized that Renee Mitchell’s two young daughters were missing.
The girls were found safe with Perez a few hours later in Georgetown, Colo. Perez was arrested and the girls were placed with Child Protective Services.
