Help needed identifying victim in a deadly motorcycle crash

The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help from the public identifying the vicitm of a fatal motorcycle crash.

The collision occurred just after 12 p.m. Central time on Saturday, July 30 at the intersection of US 20 and State Road 2, according to Laporte Sheriff’s Captain Mike Kellums.

A black 2001 Ducati Monster motorcycle being operated by the deceased victim disregarded a traffic signal at the intersection while traveling west on US 20. The motorcycle then glanced off of a passenger vehicle before striking the side of a semi-tractor trailer that was traveling east on State Road 2, Kellums stated.

The victim did not have any identification.

The motorcycle was registered in Illinois and was later learned to have been reported stolen from the Wicker Park area in Chicago, Illinois, Kellums stated.

The owner of the motorcycle was not familiar with the victim.

The victim is believed to be a Hispanic male in his mid-20’s with a medium build. He has dark hair four to six inches in length. He was wearing white tee-shirt and dark colored shorts. He has no tattoos or other markings that would aid in identification.

Neither the driver of the passenger vehicle nor the semi were injured.
