ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — A hospital accrediting group is investigating a complaint that University of Michigan officials waited six months before telling police that child porn was allegedly found on a computer flash drive in a locked hospital lounge.

The Joint Commission confirmed Thursday it received a complaint and was reviewing the matter.

University spokesman Rick Fitzgerald says the Joint Commission contacted the University of Michigan Health System and asked for information about the case. Fitzgerald says a response was being prepared.

A female resident told University of Michigan hospital officials in May that she saw child porn on a flash drive she found in the Pediatric Emergency Department lounge. Security didn't report it to police until Nov. 21.

After police were notified, charges were brought against a male resident physician.
