Growing concern at Middlebury Junior High School after reports of a few students getting together last month for a "cough syrup party".

Though school officials aren't certain the party actually took place, they are alerting parents that some teens do experiment with getting high from cough syrup.

Members of the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department say people who abuse cough medicine most often use cough SYRUP, not pills.

It’s not illegal, but police warn people can be arrested for public intoxication and operating while intoxicated if they get drunk of off it.

The Elkhart Truth reports the primary ingredient, called D-X-M, causes an LSD-like high when taken in excess.
