ST. JOSEPH, Mich. (AP) — A former high school teacher in St. Joseph, Mich., faces criminal sexual conduct charges following an investigation into reports of an inappropriate relationship with a student.
The St. Joseph Public Safety Department says 26-year-old Lauren Hill, who taught at St. Joseph High School, was arrested and jailed on two counts of 2nd degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of 3rd degree criminal sexual conduct. The case has been turned over to the Berrien County prosecutor’s office.
St. Joseph Public Schools contacted authorities last Wednesday after the parents of a student reported the alleged relationship involving the teacher. Schools Superintendent Ann Cardon said they interviewed Hill about the allegations, then placed her on administrative leave.
She says Hill resigned on Friday.
