Many people experienced problems with SB150 zipline tickets on Saturday, May 23, due to an oversold sales error. For people wanting refunds for their tickets, below is information that was sent to 96.3 MNC by Kara Kelly, Director of Communications for the Mayor of South Bend:

Due to technical problems with ShowClix, the South Bend Tribune’s online ticket management system, tickets to the zip line at the SB150 birthday weekend campus were oversold, at roughly 50 more than were expected per hour. Long lines for the zip line persisted throughout Saturday afternoon.

Refunds will be given to those who hold unused Saturday zip line tickets. These ticket holders will also be offered a complimentary commemorative SB150 poster. To receive a refund, please visit the Information Booth, at the intersection of Niles Avenue and Jefferson Boulevard, on Sunday.

The zip line is also oversold for Sunday. Those with unused Saturday tickets and Sunday tickets now have the option of riding the zip line beginning at 10 am Sunday, an hour before the SB150 entry gates open. Interested ticket holders who arrive before the 11 am opening must to come to the East Gate only, at the corner of St. Louis Boulevard and Wayne Street. For ticket holders, the zip line will also remain open until 7 pm, instead of 6 pm Sunday.

“We had a lot of disappointed residents today who bought tickets in advance, then were turned away or unable to wait in a long line,” says Aaron Perri, executive director of SB150 and Downtown South Bend, Inc. “We were heartened that most guests understood, in spite of their disappointment, and didn’t let the glitch ruin an overwhelmingly positive day and event.”

The SB150 birthday weekend continues Sunday from 11 am to 6 pm. A South Bend Cubs game Sunday night at Four Winds Field will conclude with fireworks.
