Flood Warning for St. Joseph, LaPorte, Starke Counties along Kankakee River

The National Weather Service in Northern Indiana has issued a flood warning for the Kankakee River at Davis Route 30 affecting LaPorte, Starke and St. Joseph Counties.

It is due to the recent heavy rainfall that began on Saturday. The National Weather Service describes the flooding that is forecast as “minor” along the Kankakee River.

Flood stage is 10.0 feet. Flooding of low lying agricultural areas begins at 10.0 feet.

At 10 p.m. Sunday, May 31: the stage was 10.7 feet and rising.

Forecast: The river will crest near 10.9 feet around 1 p.m. on Monday June 1 and fall below flood stage around 1 p.m. on Friday June 5.
