Teen driver safety program offered in South Bend this weekend

A program focused on helping teens become safer drivers is coming to South Bend this weekend.

The Street Survival Teen Driving School will be from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 20, at Tire Rack, 7101 Vorden Parkway in South Bend.

The program includes a short classroom session followed by hands-on driving experience on an obstacle course. Students will learn about braking and skid control, proper braking and how to avoid crashes.

The program is open to drivers ages 15 to 21 who have either a driver’s license or learner’s permit. Students learn in their own vehicles.

The program is $75 per student and graduates can sometimes receive car insurance discounts.

To sign up, visit the Street Survival website.

The program will return to South Bend on July 18 and Aug. 22.
