The public is invited to a candlelight vigil on Thursday, June 18, to support the family of a 22-year-old Mishawaka woman police believe was shot by the father of her 1-month-old child.

Precious Jackson was shot and killed in front of two of her children in Mishawaka on June 12. The suspected shooter, 18-year-old Tyron Johnson, has been arrested and was charged with murder.

The vigil takes place at 8:30 p.m. at Beutter Park in Mishawaka.

Representatives from the St. Joseph County Special Victims Unit, the Family Justice Center, the YWCA and the Family and Children’s Center are scheduled to speak.

Sky lanterns will be lit to recognize all victims of domestic violence fatalities in Indiana in the past year.
