As the Nov. 24 deadline nears, the city of South Bend is getting closer to making its goal in the 1,000 homes in 1,000 days project.

On Tuesday, South Bend’s Board of Public Works approved a $1,660,500 contract with Green Demolition to demolish 127 properties, WNDU reported

Out of the properties addressed, 328 were repaired and refurbished.

Mayor Pete Buttigieg announced the project on Feb. 27, 2013.
