East Tokyo Hibachi brings more than 30 types of sushi to the south side of South Bend

South Bend residents who live on the south side of the city won’t have to drive far to enjoy Hibachi dishes and sushi anymore.

East Tokyo Hibachi opened July 6 at 1290 E. Ireland Road, where CiCi’s Pizza and Woodfire Passport Grill once called home, according to 95.3 MNC’s news partners Flavor 574.

“(As of our 10th day) I haven’t heard a complaint yet,” Shan You, who owns the restaurant, told Flavor 574. “I go around to every single table and ask every single customer how they feel. They tell me they enjoy it. So, I’ve enjoyed it, even though it can be hard.”

The restaurant offers two Hibachi stations with 20 seats total, though up to 60 people can be served at Hibachi with reservations in advance.

East Tokyo Hibachi also serves more than 30 varieties of sushi, Asian bubble teas and tempura ice cream.
