An Elkhart man has been charged with murder, attempted murder and battery with a deadly weapon in connection to a shooting in downtown South Bend earlier this month.

Bryant Johnson, 23, of Elkhart is accused of firing dozens of bullets into an SUV at LaSalle Avenue and Lafayette Boulevard in downtown South Bend at about 2:30 a.m. Aug. 1, killing 27-year-old Justin Sharp of Elkhart, according to the South Bend Tribune.

Court documents filed in the case found that Johnson shot Sharp and the person driving the SUV Sharp was in because of an ongoing feud involving Johnson, Sharp and other people, the Tribune reported.

Sharp was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the SUV did not suffer life-threatening injuries.

A warrant for Johnson was issued Monday, Aug. 10, and he is to be held without bond once he is arrested.

Johnson is considered “armed and dangerous,” according to police. He’s also known as “BB.”
