Hometown Heroes: Bob Middlebrook of New Carlisle is a volunteer firefighter, a Vietnam veteran and an inspiration to many

News/Talk 95.3 Michiana’s News Channel and Martin’s Super Markets are honoring our Hometown Heroes this fall and we’ve chosen our first honoree.

Robert “Bob” Middlebrook of New Carlisle has been an inspirational figure in Melissa Moffit’s life since she was a small child. Melissa nominated Bob. Here’s what she wrote about him:

He served two tours of duty in Vietnam, joined the New Carlisle Fire Department as a volunteer firefighter in 1973. He also served as a CASA volunteer. He recently received the Sagamore of the Wabash award for his outstanding community service. Last year, Bob lost his son Jamie, a fellow volunteer firefighter, in the line of duty. Bob continues to serve his community with his head held high while dealing with his tragic loss. He has influenced so many people in our community in a positive uplifting way. Bob always has a smile and a wave for everyone, including strangers. He is truly a hero in my book.

Thank you for your service and your dedication to our community, Bob. Congratulations on being named our first Hometown Hero!

News/Talk 95.3 MNC will name one hero a week for the next seven weeks and we’re still accepting submissions. Nominate your Hometown Hero today.
