Man shot in stomach in South Bend, suspect still at large

Police are searching for a suspect who shot a 51-year-old man in the stomach early Tuesday morning, Sept. 22.

The shooting happened at about 1:40 a.m. in the 2900 block of Hilltop Drive in South Bend, according to WNDU. It’s the third shooting in South Bend since early Sunday morning.

The man was taken to Memorial Hospital of South Bend, according to 95.3 MNC’s news partners ABC 57.

The man was alert at the scene and was taken into emergency surgery at the hospital, the South Bend Tribune reported. He was listed in critical condition as of 11:45 a.m. Tuesday.

The shooting happened after an argument and the victim knows the shooter, the Tribune reported.
