Funeral arrangements have been announced for two of the four Warsaw men who died when the plane they were on crashed near Clemson, S.C., on Friday, Oct. 2.

The visitation service for Charlie and Scott Smith will take place concurrently from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12, at Warsaw Community Church. A joint funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, also at Warsaw Community Church.

Charlie was 71. Scott was 44.

Tony L. Elliott, 54, and Scott D. Bibler, 51, also died in the crash.

The crash happened Friday evening on the shore of Lake Hartwell in a remote area along the border between Georgia and South Carolina. The four men were planning on attending the Notre Dame football game against Clemson University on Saturday, Oct. 3.

An autopsy showed that Charlie died from multiple blunt force trauma injuries, the Oconee County (S.C.) coroner announced on Sunday, Oct. 4. Scott died from cervical spinal column trauma.

Autopsies for Elliott and Bibler are scheduled for Monday, Oct. 5.

Charles Smith was a Warsaw City Council member and former Tippecanoe Valley High School football coach. His son, Scott, was an attorney in Warsaw.

Tony Elliott was the owner of Elliott’s Cars and Carts in Warsaw and recently retired from local Sprint car racing.

Scott Bibler was a former Tippecanoe Valley High School football coach.
