A student was suspended indefinitely from Berrien Springs High School and could face criminal charges after a parent told school officials that the student threatened to bring a gun to school.
The parent called school officials Thursday morning, Oct. 29, to alert them to the alleged threat, according to Chief Paul Toliver with the Berrien Springs-Oronoko Township Police Department.
The student was identified by school officials and suspended from school indefinitely. No weapon was found on school property and there was no immediate danger to students and staff, Toliver said.
The school was working to notify parents of high school students as of Thursday afternoon.
The student will be charged in juvenile court and won’t be identified until arraignment, Toliver said.
The incident remains under investigation.
