Halloween police chase ends when suspect crashes car into South Bend home

A police chase in St. Joseph County on Halloween ended when the suspect’s car crashed into a South Bend home and a parked car.

The chase began after a Mishawaka Police officer saw a black car recklessly driving into oncoming traffic at about 1 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, WNDU reported.

The officer eventually called off the chase, but South Bend Police spotted the vehicle on Eddy Street and began chasing it.

During the chase, the driver turned too suddenly and crashed his vehicle into a house on the corner of St. Peters Street and LaSalle Avenue in South Bend, then spun and crashed into a parked car.

The driver was arrested. Nobody was injured, WNDU reported, but the house sustained some structural damage and three police squad cars were damaged during the chase.
