One person found dead after a reported shooting at a home on Sunrise Drive in Elkhart

One person was found dead inside a home on Sunrise Drive in Elkhart.

Elkhart Police were called to the home on the report of a shooting around 12:15 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 8, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at The Elkhart Truth.

Police identified the victim of a shooting Rahman Saleh, 74.

Saleh was the owner of the home and also owned the building that houses Saleh’s Market at 401 Middlebury St., according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at The Elkhart Truth. He formerly ran the market but had stepped away from operations, according to the market’s current owner.

During the investigation witnesses reported seeing two subjects running through the area around the same time as the homicide, according to a news release by the Elkhart Police Department.

A canine unit was called to the scene to search the area, but nobody was found in connection to the incident, the news release states.
