Goshen Community Schools to vote on new mascot this week

The Goshen Community Schools community will vote this week on its new mascot after logos for the four finalists were unveiled over the weekend.

The graphics were designed by Antonio Zacarias, who graduated from Goshen High School in 2005, according to our news partners The Elkhart Truth.

Students and staff at GHS and Goshen Middle School will vote for their favorite mascot Tuesday, Nov. 10. High school students will vote during daily announcements. Middle school students will vote during social studies classes.

GHS alumni who live within Goshen Community Schools boundaries can vote from noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, in the main gym concession stand at GHS. Voters should park by the white buses in the lot along U.S. 33 and enter through Door C.

Alumni must have two forms of ID, including a photo ID, and must provide what year they graduated.

Results are expected to be announced during a special school board meeting Nov. 16. If the margin of victory is less than 2 percent, students will vote in a runoff election, which could delay the Nov. 16 announcement.
