High, howling winds and rain is on the way for Michiana starting Wednesday night, Nov. 11, and finishing out the rest of the week.

Sunny skies and warm temperatures will give way to clouds and rain in the evening, according to ABC 57 Chief Meteorologist Tom Coomes. Rain is possible from 9 p.m. Wednesday through Thursday morning.

As the cold front moves through the area, high winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts of up to 50 mph is expected starting at about midnight and going through the day Thursday.

The National Weather Service has issued a high weather warning in effect from 5 a.m. Thursday through 10 a.m. Friday.

Power outages are possible, so residents should be prepared by keeping their cell phones charged and have batteries and flashlights ready. Residents should also put away or secure outdoor items like lawn furniture and trash cans.

The wind will calm on Friday, but temperatures will cool heading into the weekend.
