Winter weather advisory to be in effect Saturday for much of northern Indiana, southwestern Michigan

Michiana residents may want to get out the boots and gloves as the first major snowfall of the season is expected to fall on Saturday, Nov. 21.

Snowflakes have already been spotted in previous weeks, but Mother Nature is forecasted to drop up to seven inches of snow in St. Joseph, Elkhart, LaPorte, LaGrange and Steuben counties in Indiana and Berrien, Cass and St. Joseph counties on Saturday.

The National Weather Service already issued a winter weather advisory to be in effect from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday.

The majority of snow will fall between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., according to ABC 57 Meteorologist Greg Bobos. Because the temperatures are forecasted to be in the high 30s, roads could still be slick.

Berrien, Cass and St. Joseph counties and the northern regions of St. Joseph, Elkhart and LaPorte counties will likely see the most snowfall, ABC 57 reported, with areas further south seeing smaller amounts.

It won’t stick around for long though. Bobos told 95.3 MNC that most, if not all, of the snow should melt by the end of Sunday.
