Michiana's Menu: Crooked Ewe serving Sunday brunch, where to eat on Thanksgiving, more

CROOKED EWE STARTS SERVING SUNDAY BRUNCH

There’s another place to grab a plate of eggs Benedict after sliding out of bed late in the morning.

Crooked Ewe Brewery & Ale House, 1047 Lincoln Way East, started serving its new Sunday brunch Nov. 15, Flavor 574 reports

You’ll find creative spins on popular items, like brisket Benedict or chicken and waffle. There is a separate vegan menu, but all of the items on the regular menu can be made for vegetarians or vegans.

One of the most eccentric items on the menu is the Doughffle. Vegan and gluten-free doughnut mix is baked in a waffle iron, deep fried and topped with cashew butter and house-made hazelnut spread.

Brunch starts at noon Sundays and is available until close at 10 p.m.

ELKHART CAFE CELEBRATES 25 YEARS

Twenty-five years in the making for Allen’s Bristol Street looks a whole lot like good food, great service and a lot of bottomless coffee.

The cafe at 500 W. Bristol St., Elkhart, is celebrating 25 years in business, Flavor 574 reports.

Things have certainly changed since the restaurant opened in 1990, but you’ll be sure to find bottomless coffee for $1.40, hearty breakfasts and more typical diner fare.

Owner Neal Allen said regulars still sit at a community table to chat.

“Our clientele is how we make it,” he said.

WHERE TO EAT ON THANKSGIVING IN MICHIANA

You’re probably already asking “for a friend” where to go eat in case the turkey is accidentally set on fire or in case you don’t want to do dishes on Thanksgiving.

There are plenty of places open Thursday, Nov. 26, in northern Indiana offering traditional Thanksgiving dishes, including some restaurants where you can order carry-out meals.

Places like Amish Acres and The Skillet will have buffets, and restaurants like Sorin’s and Cracker Barrel will have traditional meals.
