Burn Amnesty Week is underway in St. Joseph County

St. Joseph County residents living in unincorporated parts of the county can legally burn their leaves this week.

Burn amnesty week runs through Dec. 6.

County residents cannot burn if they live within 200 feet of another home or if they live within city limits.

Residents who burn leaves should only burn dry leaves in small piles. Gasoline or other flammable liquids shouldn’t be used.

If a fire gets out of control, residents should immediately call 911.
