Dr. Carole Schmidt to leave her position as Superintendent of South Bend Schools in June

Dr. Carole Schmidt, Superintendent of the South Bend Community School Corporation, has announced her intent to leave her position at the end of school year.

Last week, Dr. Schmidt submitted a letter of intent to retire, effective June 30, 2016, according to a news release from South Bend Community School Corporation.

Schmidt wrote, “During the past four years that I’ve had the pleasure of serving as superintendent of the South Bend Community School Corporation, I have witnessed many dedicated teachers and parents, and served with a staff that truly cares about providing quality learning for every student every day. I have been blessed to have spent my entire career in public education and will continue to be a champion for it in the next phase of my personal and professional life.”

Dr. Schmidt has began work as the interim superintendent of South Bend Community School Corporation in the summer of 2011 and accepted the position that fall.
