A man was shot in the foot and a home was damaged by a bullet in South Bend on Sunday night, Dec. 6.

Officers were called to the 800 block of Sherman Street at about 8 p.m. for the shooting.

The man’s injury wasn’t life threatening. Evie Barton, who lives in the home that was damaged, told our news partners ABC 57 that she was livid that her home was damaged in the shooting.

The bullet hit the front area of the home and narrowly missed a window. Nobody else was injured, but there is a hole in the house.

“I was appalled,” Barton told ABC 57. “I was relieved that it isn’t worse than it was. I was angry that this neighborhood has come to that, and felt powerless.”
