Freezing rain across Michiana could hamper morning commute Friday

(Krystal Vivian/95.3 MNC)

A bit of freezing rain could hamper the morning commute around Michiana on Friday, Jan. 8.

A brief period of light freezing rain early Friday could cause a light glaze of ice to form on roadways in St. Joseph, LaPorte, Elkhart, Marshall and Kosciusko counties in Indiana and Berrien, Cass and St. Joseph counties in Michigan, according to the National Weather Service.

Drivers are encouraged to allow for extra time to get where they need to go.

Lake effect snow is expected to return to Michiana on Sunday, Jan. 11.
