Lake effect snow expected to fall Monday and Tuesday throughout Michiana

It’s coming.

System snow is expected to fall throughout Michiana starting early Monday evening, Jan. 11, Greg Bobos, ABC 57 meteorologist, told 95.3 MNC. Once the system snow passes through, lake effect snow will begin falling.

When the snow ends Tuesday night, Jan. 12, anywhere from three to eight inches of snow will likely be on the ground. Michigan will likely see the most snowfall.

winter storm warning is in effect in St. Joseph, Berrien and Cass counties in Michigan from 8 p.m. Monday to 7 p.m. Tuesday, where five to eight inches are expected to fall.

A winter storm advisory will be in effect in St. Joseph, Elkhart, LaPorte, Marshall, Starke and Kosciusko counties in Indiana for the same time period. Three to six inches of snow is expected.

The snow will be accompanied by frigid cold. Temperatures are expected to drop to 16 degrees Monday night, followed by a high of 17 degrees Tuesday during the day before dropping again to 6 degrees Tuesday night.
