Lake effect snow is the weather rule for Tuesday

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for Berrien, Cass and St. Joseph Counties in Michigan. A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for St. Joseph, Elkhart, LaPorte, Starke, Marshall and Kosciusko Counties in Indiana, according to the National Weather Service.

A total of 5 to 8 inches of snow could fall in Michigan. A total of 3 to 6 inches of snow could fall in Indiana, the National Weather Service reported.

Lake effect snow and gusty wind will hamper travel today, according to ABC 57 Meteorologist Greg Bobos. Wind gusts top 30 mph, blowing and drifting snow will also be an issue. Temperatures drop from the teens Tuesday afternoon back to the single digits Wednesday morning.

Tuesday: Lake effect snow, temperatures in the mid teens.

Tonight: Snow showers and lows in the single digits.

Wednesday: Partly cloudy, evening snow, highs in the mid teens.

Thursday: Partly cloudy, highs in the mid 30s.

Friday: Rain showers, highs in the upper 30s.

Saturday: Snow showers, highs mid the mid 30s.
