Schools in St. Joseph County saw some improvement in school accountability grades during the 2014-2015 school year.

The grades were released Wednesday, Jan. 26, by the Indiana State Board of Education.

Schools could receive higher grades than the previous year, but not lower grades because of a new law Gov. Mike Pence signed last week keeping schools from being negatively impacted by the 2015 ISTEP scores.

Some schools in St. Joseph County saw improvement. All Penn-Harris-Madison schools received A grades, while School City of Mishawaka schools stayed about the same.

South Bend Community schools received grades across the gamut, with seven schools receiving As or Bs and 15 schools receiving Ds or Fs.

John Glenn schools received two As, a B and a C. For Union North United schools, LaVille Elementary received an A while LaVille Junior/Senior High School received a C.
