South Bend's first food truck will offer healthy, vegan options for breakfast and lunch

South Bend’s first food truck is hoping to give hungry people a healthier option than the fast food drive-thru when it makes its debut on Friday, Feb. 12.

The Grateful Green food truck will offer healthy vegan food such as juices, smoothies, waffles, salads, sandwiches and hummus. Each menu item costs less than $8.

Jessie Miles, who owns the food truck, told WNDU that she wants patrons to be able to enjoy food that they would normally eat, but with a healthy twist.

The truck will be parked near 113 E. Wayne St., South Bend, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with the ribbon cutting ceremony planned for noon.

The food truck will be parked in the following locations throughout the weekend:

  • Saturday, Feb. 13 — 7:30 to 10 a.m. near 117 N. Main St., South Bend, and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. near 152 E. Jefferson Boulevard, South Bend
  • Monday, Feb. 15 — 6:30 to 10 a.m. near 103 N. Niles St., South Bend, and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. near 160 E. Washington St., South Bend

To find out where The Grateful Green will be parked on any given day, visit its website or its Facebook page. Patrons can also suggest locations where they would like to see the food truck parked in the future.
