Police in Berrien County are investigating the discovery of a vehicle found in a creek near the area of Bond Street and Bond Street in Niles Township.

Emergency crews were called to the scene early Sunday morning, Feb. 14.

The bodies of two people who were reported missing on Saturday, Feb. 13, were found inside the vehicle, according to police, as reported by 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

Friends and family of Steven Rough and Autumn Mehl created a Facebook page, Saturday, in hopes of helping to find them. On Sunday, a volunteer search group was formed in an effort to find them.

Shortly after 9 a.m. a volunteer with the search party contacted the Berrien County Police and said they found the missing vehicle in the creek.

The vehicle was located up side down in the water and the two victims were removed from the vehicle. The family confirmed the identities.

The case remains under investigation with the Berrien County Sheriffs Department. Foul play is not suspected. The contributing factors are currently unknown.
