A 17-year-old was was found guilty of murder Thursday, March 31, but his trial is not over yet.

Tyre Bradbury was convicted of helping another man in a 2014 shooting that killed 2-year-old John Swoveland Jr., according to our news partners at ABC 57 reported. John was shot by a stray bullet that was intended for a teenager involved in a fight at Coquillard Park, down the street from where John was playing outside.

The jury deliberated for five hours Thursday before reaching a verdict.

Now that Bradbury was found guilty, the jury will hear testimony about accusations that the fight at the park was gang-related.

The murder charge carries a maximum prison sentence of 65 years, but if Bradbury is convicted of criminal gang enhancement, he could be sentenced to more time.

Bradbury was one of eight people arrested in connection to the toddler’s killing.

The trial continued Thursday and could conclude Friday.
