Dog owners in the South Bend area now have a place to take their pups for some exercise off the leash.

The South Bend Parks Department opened the city’s first dog park on Wednesday, April 20, our news partner ABC 57 reported.

The park is located on Niles Avenue at the East Bank Trail, near the old Madison Center.

Dog owners can take their pups there and allow them to run around off their leash to socialize with other dogs.

The South Bend Common Council will consider a resolution to explore more opportunities for other dog parks in the city at its next meeting April 25.
