St. Joseph County is searching for at least 100 people to volunteer to work polling locations on Indiana’s Primary on May 3.

“We need people from the community to step up to help make the election happen,” Frank Fotia, a board member for St. Joseph County Voting Registration, told our news partners ABC 57.

The people who normally work the polling locations are retiring and aren’t able to do it anymore as they retire.

Anyone interested in working on election day must be a registered voter in St. Joseph County and be available to attend a training on April 23, April 30 or May 1, the voter registration office said. They must be available to work the poll from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 3 and cannot leave.

Poll workers in St. Joseph County are paid $85.50.
