Four people injured in crash after motorcycle collides with deer

Four people on two motorcycles were injured after one of the drivers collided with a deer.

The crash happened around 9:30 p.m. on Friday, May 6, on County Road 23 south of County Road 102, according to a news release from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department.

The motorcycles were traveling southbound when one of the drivers was not able to stop before striking the deer, the news release stated.

The driver of the other motorcycle then struck the first motorcycle, the news release stated.

A 41-year-old man who struck the deer was taken to Elkhart General Hospital with a head injury. His passenger was taken to Memorial Hospital in South Bend with leg injuries.

The 34-year-old man driving the second motorcycle was taken to Memorial Hospital in South Bend with a head injury. His passenger was taken to Elkhart General Hospital with foot, ankle and abdominal pain.
