USA Skate Center in Mishawaka to close in June

A longtime business in Mishawaka is closing its doors in June.

USA Skate Center will close Wednesday, June 8, according to a post on its Facebook page. The skating rink has been a popular spot for children’s birthday parties and has hosted several bouts for the South Bend Roller Girls roller derby team.

Ken Wall, who owns USA Skate Center, is looking to retire and travel the country, but he doesn’t have any children to pass the rink on to, according to the post.

At least 175 comments were left on the post within 15 hours. Many people thanked Wall and the business for their many memories, while several others expressed frustration and disappointment that the skating center will soon close.

Other skating rinks in the area include Michiana Roller Skating Rink on Eighth Street in Mishawaka, Holiday Skating Rink on C.R. 20 in Elkhart and Galaxy Roller Rink on Ontario Road in Niles, mIch.
