Part of the former St. Joseph High School building on S.R. 933 at Angela Boulevard will be demolished this summer to to make room for new space for Holy Cross College.

The college is entering into a long-term lease with the University of Notre Dame for the space, Holy Cross President Brother John Paige said Tuesday, May 24.

“The addition of this property to our campus brings us closer to our vision of providing expanded access and opportunity for education in the tri-campus community at Notre Dame,” Paige said.

Most of the old high school will be demolished because it’s old and some of it has asbestos in it. A smaller building on the property will be remodeled and updated to be used for science labs and classroom space.

The work is expected to start June 1 and be completed by mid-August.
