Man in custody after deadly shooting at Main and Colfax in downtown South Bend on Tuesday night

One man is dead and another was taken into custody after a deadly shooting in downtown South Bend.

South Bend Police were called to the intersection of Main and Colfax around 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31, on the report of shots fired.

On arrival, police found the victim laying in the street, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

Witnesses reported hearing an argument between two men followed by the sound of gunfire, ABC 57 reported.

The suspected shooter surrendered to police and is in custody, ABC 57 reported.

Police are investigating the connection between the two men.

St. Joseph County Metro Homicide is still investigating the shooting.
