“He was in a really good mood. We talked about all kinds of things,” Buttigieg told 95.3 MNC. “Obviously, the economy, what was going on in South Bend. But he also wanted to know how the Irish are going to do this fall and we had a good conversation about throwing out the first pitch at baseball games.
”(It was) just a really laid back conversation, at least for him. I’m not sure how laid back I was. But it was really special too. But you could tell he was really interested in what was going on around the community and I think he views our region as really symbolic of a bigger picture for America, especially when the economy comes into play.”
Buttigieg and Donnelly greeted Obama after Air Force One landed at the South Bend International Airport on Wednesday afternoon, then accompanied him to Concord High School and The Lerner Theatre before returning to the airport in the evening.
