Former Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o’s leadership skills have officially been recognized on the highest level.
He’s been named as one of the five San Diego Chargers team captains for the upcoming NFL season, according to a team announcement.
It’ll be the first time he’s wore the captain patch on his jersey in his NFL career. He says it’s “real humbling” and that he’s “very, very grateful for the opportunity.” He says that it shows his teammates trust and believe in him and proves that he believes in himself, too.
The announcement states that Te’o has an “inclusive” leadership style that “aims to ensure each of his teammates realize how vital they are to the Chargers success.”
This is Te’o’s fourth season in the NFL.
