They’re the tiniest houses you can possibly live in, and they’re in demand in South Bend.
Over four dozen people went to Union Station Tuesday to see and hear a presentation on 250 to 400 square feet houses, according to the South Bend Tribune.
Two men, Mike Keen and Dwane Borkholder, want to build a “tiny living community” on two vacant lots at Cushing Street and Portage Avenue, featuring six to eight of the miniature homes. The homes would be powered by rooftop solar panels and use 70 percent less energy than a typical house.
If built, each individual house would cost $50,000 to $60,000, and the homes could potentially be moved around via trailer.
City planning director Tim Corcoran told the South Bend Tribune that he’s interested in the concept.

Man, I thought some of those old cottage communities from the 50’s and 60’s were depressing…invite over two friends and it’s standing room only. Good on you all being nice little ‘sustainable development’ UN lemmings though. Mom and dad will be proud.
