A $5,000 reward is being offered by PETA for information that leads to an arrest and cruelty to animals conviction for whomever hit a deer with their car, then lit it on fire while it was still alive in Fulton County.
Indiana Conservation Officers and Fulton County Sheriff’s Department are still seeking information on who lit the deer on fire near the intersection of State Road 25 and County Road 400 North.
The deer was struck and injured by a car in the early morning hours of Thursday, Feb. 16, according to investigators.
The deer was still alive when an accelerant was poured over the wild animal, then ignited.
The vehicle that struck the deer left.
It is believed to be a blue or black GM model, possibly 1992-2002 Camaro, Trans-Am, or Firebird, based on car parts left at the scene.
A short time later a passerby noticed the deer and called police.
Fulton County Sheriff’s Department arrived and found the deer alive and smoldering. Officers put the deer down and started an investigation.
