Police: Man arrested in McDonald’s drive-thru after assaulting officers

A man who police say assaulted an officer after he was found asleep at the wheel in a McDonald’s drive-thru lane has been arrested.

Mishawaka Police responded to an call at the McDonald’s restaurant on Bremen Highway on Saturday, April 8, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

The suspect, Blake Carpenter, 22, was found asleep in a red Toyota Camry, ABC 57 reported.

The responding officer shouted at Carpenter to wake him up. The car began to roll forward, because it had been left in gear. The officer had to reach in and shift the car into neutral, ABC 57 reported.

Carpenter resisted efforts to remove him from the car and became violent, striking one officer once and another officer as many as three times, according to investigators

Carpenter’s BAC was .13 percent when he was booked into St. Joseph County Jail.
