Two people injured, man turned over to police, after crash at US 20 and Fail Road

At least two people were injured in a crash at US 20 and Fail Road in LaPorte County.

The collision happened around 5:45 a.m. on Wednesday, April 19.

The crash happened when a silver 2014 Ford Fusion traveling east on US 20 ran the traffic signal at Fail Road and struck a black 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo traveling north on Fail Road, according to the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department.

The 19-year-old South Bend woman in the Ford suffered a possible broken wrist and was taken  to LaPorte Hospital, the sheriff’s department stated.

The 27-year-old LaPorte man driving the Monte Carlo suffered injuries to his hip and head and was airlifted to Memorial Hospital in South Bend. His injuries were not believed to be life threatening.

The South Bend woman was cited for disregarding the traffic signal, the sheriff’s department stated.

A passenger in her vehicle, Marcel Omar Singleton, 32, was not injured and walked away from the scene. He was later stopped by deputies and found to be wanted in St.  Joseph County on a misdemeanor warrant. He was turned over to the sheriff’s department.
