Lawmakers reach tentative agreement on roads funding package

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — House Speaker Brian Bosma says legislative leaders have reached a tentative agreement on a roads funding package that will raise taxes.

But the Indianapolis Republican wouldn’t say Wednesday what exactly it will entail.

Instead, Bosma said the deal hits the “sweet spot” of both chambers’ priorities.

Republicans have agreed to hike taxes on gasoline and diesel, as well as imposing new vehicle fees.

A sticking point had been the House Republicans’ desire to send revenue from the current sales tax on gas entirely to roads. Bosma says the Senate capitulated in its opposition to this provision. But a cigarette tax House Republicans wanted is dead for the session.

The two-year budget lawmakers are drafting hinges in part on details of the deal. The Legislature is expected to adjourn by Saturday.

Taxed to DEATH!!! April 20, 2017 at 9:13 am

So what has changed? July 2016:Pence said on Saturday that Indiana has made “record investments” in roads, and Trump touted a report by CNBC that ranked the state as first in the nation in infrastructure. “We in Indiana have a 2 billion dollar surplus,” Pence said.
August 2016 Pence said “Indiana has more than 2 billion in reserves, cash saved away for a rainy day”.
Pence also said “Indiana has the highest credit rating in the nation, which is a AAA rating from Standard and Poor’s”.

How did Indiana go from great to broke in such a short time? We didn’t! Just Democrat Holcomb and Indiana politicians going for an unnecessary money grab at our expense! These politicians just want us to “work for the state” like socialists or communists. They won’t even legislate that this “new money” they are stealing from us will even be used on roads and infrastructure because it won’t!!! We already have money for those things we spend elsewhere. How long are we going to put up with this theft of our money by these arrogant self serving politicians? As soon as the economy starts to pick up a tiny bit they go for the throat. They all make me sick!

They all need to be replaced before they can run us into the ground!!! Vote independent!!!
