Study on revamping Indiana’s archaic alcohol laws will take two years

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — A revamp of Indiana’s alcohol laws is one of the major issues that Statehouse leaders are picking for further study in the coming months.

The Legislative Council announced on Thursday the subjects they plan to give a closer look to this summer and fall including lead contamination, the placement of concentrated animal feeding operations and government regulation of short-term rental websites such as Airbnb.

But a study of the state’s arcane alcohol laws may generate the most public interest. It comes in the wake of a charged debate last session over whether convenience stores should be able to sell cold beer.

Republican House Speaker Brian Bosma and Senate GOP leader David Long say they plan to appoint an alcohol study committee chairman who isn’t a lawmaker.

The (Northwest Indiana) Times reports that the study will take two years to complete.

Laughable! Someone else can do it because we cant? May 26, 2017 at 1:00 pm

Brian Bosma and Senate GOP leader David Long say they plan to appoint an alcohol study committee chairman who isn’t a lawmaker? This an admission that lawmakers are biased and paid for passing or not passing legislation? These self serving degenerates are admitting they can’t do the job we elected them to do so someone that is not a “lawmaker” will have to do it. 2 years? Hell, Nancy Pelosi wrote a 3000 page bill in 1 week. (Obama screw you Care). Absolute corruption at its finest. If Long and Bosma can’t deal with this for years I would presume to say they have already been paid to leave it alone. There setting it up for a “study” will just get them paid more to bury it in the 2 years time frame. All the while we will just continue to let this happen…Doesn’t the constitution say something about our obligation as citizens when our government is no longer of, by and for the people? This has been the case for decades!

Well they should just write a law that makes sense and repeal everything else, replace that file folder with a single page.

I’m not going to hold my breath on that though.
