The South Bend area is in the process of getting a much-needed infusion of apartments.
Over 2,000 apartments are either in construction or are in the planning stages in South Bend, Mishawaka, Granger, and Elkhart, according to the South Bend Tribune.
All of those apartments are expected to be available by the end of 2018. The South Bend Tribune is reporting that the new apartments come at the end of a downswing that only saw a little over 200 new apartments total be built in St. Joseph County from 2013 until 2016.
Many of these new apartments that are coming available are targeted towards those with plenty of money to spend, ranging anywhere from $1,100 a month for a one-bedroom apartment to $2,000 per month for a three-bedroom unit.
