The City of South Bend wants to reduce crime at a crime-riddled apartment complex by giving it a facelift.
The South Bend common council passed a resolution Monday in support of $14 million in renovations at the Miami Hills apartment complex. It would be the first substantial renovations the Section 8 complex has received since the 1970s, according to ABC 57.
Police frequent the complex for a variety of crimes that have taken place there, ranging from robberies to unwanted persons to homicides, like one that happened in January this year.
However, the group that owns the property, west-coast based BLVD Communities, has hired on-site management at the complex that has cooperated with police, and project manager Ann Mannix told ABC 57 that there haven’t been any incidents since the January shooting.
Now, $14 million in a federal bond will be used to add new windows, sidings, kitchens, heating, baths, and so on. Common council vice president Oliver Davis feels the changes at the complex will bring changes in safety to the complex and the area around it.
“To see resources coming into that place, it’s going to be very strong for our economy and the people there and it’s going to be a win-win for everybody there,” Davis told ABC 57.

Of course they will need those…this is the all seeing, never blinking eye of the government we are talking about. They need to watch…just look at the money they’ve invested.
That Apartment complex is out of control its been more stuff that happen since January what about that maintenance man teuck getting stolen from the tenants and crashed into a family of 5 children .
