Police in South Bend had their hands full with two robberies and an attempted robbery in the span of under two hours Thursday.

At about 6 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to a robbery at Low Bob’s Discount Tobacco in the 4500 block of Ameritech Drive. A man reportedly gave a note to a clerk demanding money. When the clerk refused, he took some money on the counter and left.

At the same time, a gas station in the 5000 block of West Western had an attempted robbery. Again, the suspect handed over a note demanding money. And again, the suspect was unsuccessful and left without money in an Oldsmobile Intrigue with Michigan plates.

Then, at 7:45 p.m. Thursday, officers went to a Verizon Wireless store on the 1700 block of East South Bend Avenue on a robbery report. Three men were reportedly able to make off with money and several phones after one showed a gun. They left in a blue Jeep Liberty.
