A high speed train route going through our area has been given the green light to become a reality.

Hyperloop One, based out of Los Angeles, took 2,600 proposals from 100 different countries in its Global Challenge to build extremely-high speed railways to connect major cities.

The Midwest Connect Hyperloop was one of the 10 that made the final cut. It would connect Chicago to Columbus, Ohio, and then Columbus to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The route from Chicago to Columbus would travel along U.S. 30 and would run through Fort Wayne.

It would allow travelers and goods to go from Chicago to Columbus in 29 minutes and from Columbus to Pittsburgh in 18 minutes.

Other routes making the final cut are in Texas, Colorado, Florida, India, the United Kingdom, Mexico, and Canada.

You would have to drive 100 mph the entire time to make this work.

Average speed of 600 mph with top speeds of 760 mph. Still needs to be fleshed out and tested fully, but this is the current expectation based on theoretical projections.
